You're not supposed to get a bow with Mob Catcher. Is it legit?

Bug: I had a bow with infinity I and mob catcher I. When, with no arrows in my inventory, I shot a big slime while I was floating mid-air, there indeed dropped a slime spawn egg but then all of a sudden at the spot of the slime egg rapidly started spawning an infinite amount of small slimes and I lagged out. Just pointing that out. thanks for reading!
